Tobias Kammerer: Figures in a Flow of Colour
At Paint — Finishing and Facade 2007 the renowned artist Tobias Kammerer, 38, from Rottweil will be showing a selection of large-format works in a special exhibition. Featuring bold and clearly discernible brushstrokes on large monochrome canvases, Kammerer’s bright and powerful paintings are full of dynamic forms and colours. Kammerer accents these forms with calculated colour signals, thus eliciting strong associations on the part of the viewer. The result is a striking range of large-format works that are bright and dynamic but nonetheless sensitive. From 1986–1992, Tobias Kammerer attended the Vienna Academy of Art, where he studied under Arik Brauer, a representative of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. There is little to recognize of that influence now. Instead, his style of painting can be assigned to the movement known as the Monumental Informal. In recent years, he has concentrated on the topic of art in architecture. In this context, he has travelled the world creating a harmonious bond between architecture and fine art in numerous rooms and buildings, both religious and secular. In this area at least, Tobias Kammerer is already regarded as one of the most important figures in the younger art scene.
