Colour and Emotion
In respect of the purely aesthetic, suggestive and symbolic references of colour, not to mention its informational content, it is clear that large and heterogeneous groups of people do not share any common, universal form of interpretation or stylistic judgement. On the other hand, there is certainly evidence to suggest that different colour shades do evoke typical emotional responses and evaluations on the part of the viewer. A study conducted by the Institute of International Trendscouting of HAWK Hildesheim substantiates this thesis. This relation, both spatial and temporal, between colour, light and emotion will be explored in a special installation designed to generate answers throughout the fair to questions regarding specific combinations of colour and material.
